love these gals–

first came across doodad in her hair in the archive of traditional music at UCLA, where i was archivist for awhile–our great folksong prof, the late d.k. wilgus, had them in his collection of american country yodeling.

the best line from that song:

when i heard that she had wed, well i wished that i was dead, but the chances are i’ll live til ninety-three.

remember that, ye lovelorn!
