On being with GrandPa as he lay dying:

Pale blue eyes, against the dawn;
Stare down to look upon,
the infant child in his arms.

Her eyes a cobalt blue;
With light of the new,
Life that beats in her blood.

He watches as her body wriggles;
And as her mouth forms mirthgul giggles,
Showing her unconditional love.

His pale blues light the sky;
Of his heart, never do they lie
Of the love he feels for the child in his arms.

No outside sounds can destroy
The child and man's simple joy,
As they bask in each other's understanding and love.

From Leanne to Grandpa: Regrets, with love, and heart filled with thanks for your love and guidance in my life.

I'm a recovering Catholic/agnostic who has been married to a Hare Krishna for 5 years. The "Cringe Love" story made me laugh so hard, I had to pull off to the side of the road. I, too, have ironed the dhoti and dusted the shrine to Prahpupadha (sp?). Despite not being religious myself, I'm sometimes amused to think that we're the only house in the neighborhood with a 'temple room.'

And then, as the story continued, I had to laugh harder to think that one woman's cringe story is, in part, the love I chose to keep forever. Now it seems so easy, but there was plenty of cringing when we first met and fell in love over 10 years ago. My husband is the sweetest, kindest, funniest, most creative, most charming, and most beautiful man in the universe. But even with all that, it still took months of couples counseling (from a deeply religious Jewish psychologist--go figure) to convince me that such a relationship was possible for the long haul.

Thanks for the great laugh--I can't wait to share it with my husband.
