. . . These works express an immediate sensory form of musical notation, whereby the complex chromatic patterns of rhythm, harmony, and color can be experienced visually . . .
The Well Tempered Clavier is a series of music whereby a prelude and fugue are written in each key and in both the major and minor scales, for a total of 24 Preludes and Fugues. They are far more complex than the Inventions, spanning a spectrum of emotions from deep spirituality to feelings of light-hearted gaiety. In both cases, my art work endeavors to capture the emotional content of the music and reflect its rich chromatic contrapuntal qualities in a form that can be easily followed visually. |
