The Public Radio Talent Quest, an open competition to find the next big public radio host-w/the-most, has narrowed the field from 1452 entries to 10 finalists. They shoulda picked The Guy from Boston: he’s what pubradio really needs. And w/ the FCC’s fuqn rules now in flux, he’s ready for prime-time. But since he didn’t enter, lemme pick from the 10 semi-winners. I listened to ’em all, and my vote goes to Glynn Washington.
You’re kidding about the Guy from Boston, right?
I don’t know if I am kidding or not. I do think pubradio needs to be shook, and GuyFrBeantown could sure do some shakin’. I do think pubradio needs less of just one more predictably kneejerk smart liberal persona– so why not this half-baked libertariconservative reg-guy. I mean I do like his delivery. And it would attract non-puradio types to pubradio. And we pubradio types would listen too so we could tell everyone how offended we are.
So, now, after typing above, I don’t think I’m kidding at all. Give this Guy a show. We need him and his gente.
I’m all for fresh voices on NPRama. But couldn’t stand the Boston guy for more than 10 seconds. Besides, you’d have to bleep every third word.
But then you probably like your Chili with a lot more molten lava sauce than me.
You wanna different voice/perspective/attitude on Public radio? Think somebody like Dennis Miller. Too bad they missed on him. His new show on Westwood One actually makes commercial radio worth listening to again. Even with the endless commercials for commemorative gold coins.
