Found Song- Devon Sproule

Devon SprouleA while back Found Magazine asked musician friends to craft songs out of their finds, debris of notes and letters that people send in. Several songs appeared on their Found 7-inch vinyl release. But my fave is not on disc, nor any longer online. So, here ’tis, Devon Sproule with “Julie” (3:06 mp3):

(Just heard from Davy Found himself: “we ARE eventually gonna release a CD with songs based on Found notes by awesome musicians, including devon sproule’s “julie” song… we welcome all submissions!”)

These are the found letters from which Devon derived lyrics:

I’m ASTOUNDED by Devon’s new stuff, the tinkling ragtime and the insane purity of her voice. Glad to see you and a few other bloggers are drawing attention to her.

I tried to mail her a couple rah-rah! fan letters here in Cville to GENERAL DELIVERY, but w/o any idea of whether they got through.

Good find—also love her song 1340 Chesapeake Street, posted somewhere on Elbo.s recently.

These guys, ALSO local to Charlottesville VA, might be of some interest to you in the singer-songwriter/Americana/twang-ternative genre:
