From the Vernacular Project: Barbara Bryon is Dori’s mother. She unknowingly passed the virus to Dori in the womb. Dori considers her mother "her number one hero." She suffers from numerous disabilities, a result of oppportunistic infections that she’s faced in the past 19 years. Dori passed away in September. [transcript]

Red Cross among West Bank citizens

The biggest food assistance program in the West Bank is being shut down. The International Red Cross plans to stop its delivery of food and vouchers to some 300,000 people by the end of this month, claiming Israel has the resources to provide food in the occupied territory.

At riding stables across the country, kids with disabilities are working with horses in a new kind of therapy that’s both physical and emotional. there are about 650 riding centers in the U.S. and Canada that offer therapeutic horse riding to more than 30,000 people with disabilities. One such rider is eight-year-old Grace Kurlychek who rides her horse Dove at Ride-Able in Eugene, Oregon. More at Stories1st. [transcript]
